IV Offshore is in need of a 2nd Mate / DPO / Ship Security Officer (SSO)

Reporting To : Chief Mate
Note:
- The candidate must have 1 -2 years experience in equivalent position with 3,000 hours on DP vessel OR 3 - 5 years experience in equivalent position with 20,000 hours on DP vessel.
- 3rd Mate certification in according with STCW 95 requirements OR 2nd Mate certification in according with STCW 95 requirements.
- As per IMCA M 117 the holder must attended DP Induction Course and operator course OR reference to IMCA M 117 training and experience as Mate.
- The candidate must have DP certificate/license and DP logbook.
- The candidate must have valid offshore medical certificate (marine department medical certificate + PMU + Shell + OGUK), BOSIET (OPITO approved) and seaman book.
- Mobilization date 5th April 2013.
- Rotation will be 35 days ON : 35 days OFF
Language Required : English
Primary Objectives :
- Liaise closely with other vessel's officers and deck crew.
- Maintaining the navigational charts, nautical publications and navigation equipment.
- Monitoring the correct operation of the system and interfaces to pipe lay parameters in accordance with the calculation and other construction activities.
- Liaising with the Chief Mate with regards to the operations of loading, co-ordination of support vessels and movement of the ballast.
Key Activities :
- Check all navigation equipment and instruments as necessary.
- Periodically carry out checks at the fire fighting stations; sees to the maintenance and substitution of the equipment provided. The inspection, any irregularities noticed and the corrective action undertaken must be reported to the Chief Mate (SSO) who will see that they are recorded.
- Operating the GMDSS equipment and ensuring mandatory provisions relating to its operation as laid down in the radio regulations are adhered to.
- Performing duties on the helideck and landing operations of the helicopters when required.
- Carry out all tasks of the 3rd Mate if this position does not figure in the ship's plan.
- Operating ballast control systems as directed by the Chief Mate.
- Performing functions as stated in the vessels emergency preparedness manual.
- Maintaining filing cabinets and documentations for navigation, ship's documents and check lists.
- Reporting any incidents to the Chief Mate immediately.
- Inspecting and checking communication equipment.
