Port Engineer
Responsibilities
• Day to day technical assistance to the vessels assigned to him in consultation with the Site Manager(s).
• Reception of maintenance and technical reports and requirements if the vessels via the Site Manager(s) and/or Technical Manager .
• In conjunction with the Site Manager, make sure that the assigned engineering/technical work is properly planned, executed, reported and documented in accordance with the company’s procedures.
• In junction with Site Manager provide report on technical deficiencies and inquiries to Technical Manager on regular basis as agreed/ determined by Technical Manager.
• Work in accordance with company’s management system.
• Arranges the assigned work to be carried out in a cost effective way and in compliance with applicable rules including QHSE rules.
• Provides support and guidance to the vessel’s crew in respect to the maintenance system including required administration and reporting.
• Accompany repairs/retrofit/drydockings in consultation with the Technical Manager and Site Manager.
• In conjunction with Site Manager(s) maintain contact with crews to amongst others provide feedback on status of requisitions and reported deficiencies.
• Purchase local technical items and 3rd party work in consultation with Site Manager and Technical Manager. Purchasing requirements to be followed as applicable in the company specified by management.
• Visit and inspect vessels, supervise work assigned to him.
The management of the company is responsible for total corporate environmental care, the relevant heads of corporate sections are responsible for environmental care within their own department, and each employee is responsible for the activities resulting from their own jobs.
Qualifications / Profile
Should minimum have following requirements:
• Coaching, anticipating and organisational skills and experience
• Motivator and team player
• English knowledge, able to communicate verbally and in writing
• Technical experience preferably in shipping
• Able to administrate and report.
